If you’re here, odds are good that you love cooking with what you have and embrace low-waste cooking as much as you can.
And I’m excited to share that you can tell the stories of your low-waste creations and have a chance at winning a cash prize. Cool, right?
This is part of the Food Waste Prevention Week Cooking Challenge, a national effort to highlight the amazing, waste-fighting meal prep going on in homes across the country every day. I’m co-leading and judging the contest along with Alison Mountford, who you may know from the @endsandstems Instagram and @itschefalison TikTok accounts. Follow her if you aren’t already!
We designed this contest to be easy to enter. You don’t need to write out a recipe, you can base your dish on a published recipe, and you can even tell us if it didn’t go as well as you hoped. All we need is a description of what you made, how it helped you fight waste, and, ideally, a photo.
We’ll be judging entries based on several waste-fighting criteria, but we’ll also choose a raffle winner from all entries. The raffle winner and top scoring recipes will each be awarded $100. And Alison will professionally develop and photograph winning recipes. Cool!
Enter as many times as you’d like before April 9!
And be sure to check out the other events happening during Food Waste Prevention Week, which is April 1 – 7. There are some wonderful national webinars, as well as local events throughout the country. For a full list go here, and check back frequently as new events are being added all the time. (If you’re in DC, like, me, here’s our local schedule — hope to see you there!).
