Cookies made with whatever yummy things you’ve got!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 cup salted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups additions (at least four, and one should be salty). Add-ins could be: white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, caramel, toffee, marshmallows, M&Ms, candy bar chunks, pecans, walnuts, cashews, pistachios, graham crackers, shredded coconut, raisins, cranberries, oats, Rice Krispies, and chopped malt balls, just to name a few. Make sure you have a salty component like potato chips, salted nuts, crumbled bacon, popcorn, or pretzels.
Instructions
- Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended, about two minutes. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended.
- Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon. Stir in at least four add-ins, including one salty component. Cookie dough can also be rolled in an add-in or topped with one.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Drop cookie dough onto a greased cookie sheet. If desired, roll dough or top dough with remaining add-in.
- Bake at 325 degrees for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- If you don’t have brown sugar, stir molasses into white sugar until reaching the desired color.
- Quickly scramble the extra egg white to add protein to your next meal. Or check out our ideas for egg whites.
