It’s on! The 2026 Food Waste Prevention Week Cooking Challenge is open for your entries!
Between now and Oct. 6, anytime you make a dish that:
- Uses what you already have and/or
- uses often pitched ingredients and/or
- otherwise prevents food waste
You’re eligible to enter! And you can do so here: foodwastepreventionweek.com/cooking-challenge
Five winners, including a raffle winner, will each receive $100. All entries will help normalize low-waste, planet-saving, money-saving cooking. You don’t need to submit a photo, recipe or social media post, though we’ll give bonus points to those who do. You can also enter as many times as you’d like!
This year, the Challenge has two categories, one for people who work in sustainability or food and another for those simply advocating for a world in which we waste less.
For extra inspiration, check out this formula for using what you have, courtesy of a previous Cooking Challenge winner.
EatOrToss founder Rachael Jackson is a Challenge organizer and judge. She can’t wait to read your entries!
The Cooking Challenge is one of a number of events that make up Food Waste Prevention Week, which goes from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4. Check out listings for webinars, other contests and local events at FoodWastePreventionWeek.com.
